Who this is between
This agreement is between you and Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading, Abu Dhabi, the maker of Muraqib. Installing or using Muraqib means you accept it.
Who Muraqib is for
Muraqib is made for teachers, to keep the records of their own teaching. Pupils and parents do not have Muraqib accounts and do not enter records into it. Classroom records are entered by the teacher; some factual evidence may be worked out by Muraqib, on your computer, from records the teacher entered, as clause 11 explains. Do not give a pupil access to Muraqib.
What you may do
You may install Muraqib on any computer you own or use for your own teaching. One licence key is for one teacher, and works on one of your computers at a time. Removing the key from that computer frees it for another. If you teach from two computers, ask us and we can allow a second. A key that lasts longer than 30 days must reach Muraqib's licence server at least once every 30 days; if it cannot, the paid features pause until it does, and nothing you have recorded is affected.
What you may not do
Do not share, sell or publish your licence key. Do not sell or give away copies of Muraqib. Do not take the app apart to build a competing product.
Information about your pupils
Muraqib holds information about your pupils because you record it. Before you do, make sure your school or employer permits you to use Muraqib, and to use any optional AI feature that sends text outside this computer. Record only what your teaching needs. Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading does not receive your local classroom database, or your classroom records, merely because you use Muraqib; the optional AI features send only what clause 9 and the privacy policy on Muraqib's website describe. Accepting these terms does not remove any duty the law places on Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading.
Your data is yours
Everything you enter - pupils, marks, notes, registers - stays on your own computer, in a folder the Help menu shows you. Muraqib also derives facts from those records — such as a run of absence or a change in average between terms — and the ones you choose to keep are stored in the same file, on the same computer. Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading never receives it, never stores it, and cannot read it. Text you send to an optional AI feature yourself - a lesson request, or a comment you ask it to reword - is different: clause 9 says where it goes. You may export or delete all of it at any time. Uninstalling Muraqib leaves that folder and its backups in place, so a reinstall finds your work again; delete the folder yourself to remove everything.
How your data file is protected
The PIN controls who can open Muraqib; it is not the key that encrypts your data. Once you complete the one-time protection setup, Muraqib keeps your classroom database in an encrypted file on this computer, and a new installation will not store any class or pupil until that setup is done. If you already had an unencrypted database, Muraqib moves it into the encrypted format. A random key encrypts the file, and the everyday copy of that key is protected by the computer's own system - Windows on a PC, the Keychain on a Mac - for this computer and your signed-in account, so the app can open the file for you. Muraqib also gives you a separate recovery key to keep somewhere safe. Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading never receives or stores your recovery key and cannot open your file for you. If you lose both this computer's access to the key and your recovery key, the encrypted data cannot be recovered. For a further layer, protect the computer itself with an account password and with BitLocker on Windows or FileVault on a Mac.
What leaves your computer
Nothing about a pupil leaves your computer on its own; what an AI feature sends when you ask it to is set out in the next clause. Two requests go out on their own, and a third while usage counts are switched on. When Muraqib is online it asks GitHub, where its releases are published, whether a newer version exists; that request carries no data from the app, and an update is installed only when you choose. If you have added a licence key, Muraqib sends the key and a random ID for this computer to a server run by Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading on Cloudflare, so one key cannot be shared across many computers. The key carries the name it was issued to and an order number, and the server keeps that computer's ID beside the order number until you remove the key from that computer or move it to another one; if the key has ever been moved, the server also keeps the date of the last move. While "Share usage counts with Muraqib" is switched on in Settings, Muraqib also sends usage counts to a server run by Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading on Cloudflare: which screens are opened, how long Muraqib stays open, the size and cost of AI requests, the kind of any error, the app version, and a random ID made on this computer. They never include a name, a mark, a note or anything typed. It also says whether this is Muraqib or Muraqib Dev. It is on unless you switch it off in Settings; switching it off stops it and deletes what had not yet been sent. Like any website, these servers see your computer's internet address. GitHub and Cloudflare run their servers outside the UAE, including in the United States, and so does Anthropic, the AI service in the next clause.
AI drafts, only if you switch them on
Muraqib has three optional AI features: a draft of the week's lesson plan, filling in the empty boxes of a plan you have started, and a clearer wording for a comment that is already written. All three are off until you switch them on, all three can be switched off again in Settings, and all three need a Muraqib licence. A draft of the week sends the subject, the grade, the week's title, the learning objectives, what this week covers, the options you ticked, last week's activity columns and ticks, and your request. To fill the blanks, Muraqib sends the subject, the grade, the week's title, the learning objectives, what this week covers and the options you ticked, with the printed name of each box to be filled; what you have written in the other boxes is not sent. It can also tick the option lists the form offers. If you ask it to redo boxes you have already written, it replaces them with new drafts rather than rewording yours, and an Undo puts them back. The screen that switches them on tells you what they do and what they send, and "How Muraqib AI works", opened from that screen and from Settings, sets it out in full. Muraqib never takes a pupil's mark, label, attendance or support plan from your register for any of them, and never sends the register itself. A comment is sent as it stands in its box: an average, an absence count, a support sentence or an observation that a Muraqib comment starter put there, and that you left in, is sent with the rest. Before a comment is sent, the pupil's recorded English name, recorded Arabic name and code are replaced on your own computer, and the recorded name of a classmate in the same class named in it is replaced too; recorded names of that class are also removed from every lesson box you typed into that can be sent - the week's title, the learning objectives, what this week covers, last week's activity columns and the request box. If the words in that box came from a file on your computer, the file itself is not sent; only the words left in the box are, through the same removal. A name Muraqib has not recorded for that class - a nickname, a sibling, a misspelling, a pupil in another class - cannot be recognised and is not removed, and neither is a middle name written on its own, such as a father's name; so do not type one. The request goes to a server run by Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading on Cloudflare, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude API and is written and configured to keep neither the request nor the answer, with its logging switched off. Anthropic handles it under its own commercial terms, outside the UAE, and may keep the request and the answer for up to 30 days; Muraqib has no zero-retention agreement with Anthropic. Anthropic never receives your licence key or this computer's ID, and Muraqib adds neither your name nor a pupil's name or code to a request; a name that is in the text itself and is not recognised by the removal above is sent with it. So that one licence cannot be used at a scale no teacher works at, each licence includes a fixed amount of AI use every month, which starts again on the 1st, and Settings shows how much of it is used; it is not a balance you buy or spend. Nothing an AI writes is approved, printed or sent anywhere by Muraqib. A draft and a filled-in box wait for you; when you ask it to improve a whole class of comments at once it writes them as drafts, which "Put my words back" undoes, and each one still waits for you to approve it.
Your judgment, not the app's
Muraqib records what you enter and drafts text from it: comment starters, report wording, reminders on the dashboard and, where switched on, AI drafts. These are suggestions to read, change or discard, not decisions. You remain responsible for every mark, attendance entry, comment, support plan and report you keep or hand to a parent, a colleague or your school, and for checking anything drafted before you rely on it. Muraqib does not replace your professional judgment or your school's procedures.
Facts Muraqib works out
Muraqib can work out short facts from what you have recorded, such as a run of absence or a change in average between terms, and offer them to you. Each one says which records it was read from. A fact becomes evidence only if you choose to keep it. If you turn one down, Muraqib records that decision, with the fact it was about, so that it does not offer the same one again. A kept fact stays apart from your own observations, under its own heading on screen, marked as worked out by Muraqib and not written by you; where Muraqib-derived evidence is included in a printout, it appears under its own separate heading. If the records behind a kept fact change, Muraqib flags it rather than rewriting it. These facts are arithmetic from your records, not judgments about a pupil. Muraqib does not send them to an AI feature, and clause 10 applies to them as to any other suggestion.
Free stays free
Everything you record yourself is free and stays free. A licence key only adds the documents Muraqib writes for you, the weekly lesson plan and the optional AI features in clause 9. Muraqib Pro is a monthly or a yearly subscription. It renews automatically on the same day each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the link Stripe provides for managing or cancelling a subscription, or by writing to the address on Muraqib's website. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro keeps working until the end of the period already paid for, and then the key is switched off. The refund policy on Muraqib's website says when a payment is refunded. If a key expires or is switched off, every pupil, mark and note you have saved remains yours and remains readable.
Backups are yours to keep
Muraqib makes encrypted backups on your device, and can save a portable copy for you to keep elsewhere. Restoring a backup on another computer needs your recovery key, so keep that key safe and separate from your backups. Keeping an extra copy somewhere else is your responsibility. If you lose both your computers and your recovery key, the data cannot be recovered, and Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading cannot recover it for you.
Not the official record
Muraqib is a teacher's tool, not your school's official record. Keep whatever records your school requires.
Updates
Updates may add, change or remove features. Muraqib tells you when one is available and installs it only when you choose to.
No warranty
To the extent UAE law allows, Muraqib is provided as it is. Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading does not promise it is free of faults, and is not liable for lost data, lost time, or any loss that follows from using it. The most you can be owed is what you paid for the current licence period.
Things outside anyone's control
Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading is not responsible for a delay or failure caused by something outside its reasonable control, such as a power or internet failure, or an outage at a service Muraqib connects to (currently GitHub, Cloudflare and Anthropic). Your local classroom records stay stored on your computer during such an outage, while connected functions such as licence checks, updates and AI requests may be unavailable.
Ownership
Muraqib, its name, its design and its code belong to Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading. A licence key buys the right to use the app. It transfers ownership of no part of it.
Passing these terms on
Your licence is yours alone; it cannot be passed to someone else. Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading may pass the Muraqib business, and these terms with it, to another business, as the law allows; your rights under these terms go with it unchanged. Any transfer that involves personal data remains subject to the privacy policy and to applicable law.
If the terms are broken
The licence ends. Your data stays yours.
Changes
These terms may change for new licences. The terms you accepted stay in force for the period you paid for.
How these terms are read
Any UAE law that cannot be set aside by agreement applies first. If you buy a licence, any terms shown for that purchase govern the purchase. The privacy policy governs the details of how personal data is handled. These terms govern the general use of Muraqib. If two of these documents ever conflict by mistake, Rashid Alnaqbi General Trading will correct them. If a court decides that part of these terms cannot apply, only that part falls away; the rest still applies. If either of us does not act at once when a term is broken, that does not give up the right to act later.
Law
These terms follow the laws of the United Arab Emirates. The courts of Abu Dhabi decide any dispute.
